I have found a guy that wants to sell a G 1000 and an International disc for $2500. I might could get it for $2,000. The only thing is the owner says he thinks a bearing in the rear end is out because when he drives it, it makes a kind of a clicking noise. Is this what this could be or could it be something worse? Is this a good price, or should it be lower because of what repairs might cost me? Thanks in advance.

Are you going to farm with the tractor or show, or somewhere between? I agree, it sounds like a gear, I wouldn't be afraid of it if you were not going to work the tractor much. Also consider you can change out the rearend cheaper and easier (than tearing it down)if indeed you choose that route.

May be a bearing, but normally a clicking sound is a missing tooth on a gear, most likely the ring and pinion. Have heard a clicking sound in a GVI before we tore it down, was the ring and pinion. I think some of the G1000 (non Vistas) did have some rear end problems. Still a heck of a big tractor.

I would be careful, it may only be a bearing, but it could also be something much worse that you may not discover until the tractor is opened up. You can spend a LOT of money on a rear end. If you can do the repairs yourself it may not be a bad price, but dealership repairs could easily run more than the tractor is worth. Price relies heavily on the variation of the model. Fuel type, front end configuration, vista, wheatland.... and what year it is.
