I pull an old Massey 44. I do well but the Olivers beat me from time to time. I've seen some strong Minni Mo's out there and wonderd how they stack up, weight, HP, cubes, etc. What can a guy pick up an old U for anyway? Any other good strong MM's that would make good pullers?

If looking to buy. Look at a MM G or GB not much more weight than a U. 403 cubes stock

I have a U and just traded a project UBD for a MH 44-6. The Massey is a smooth running light beautiful tractor. The model U is balanced well for pulling. I would say better than any other stock tractor. Just strip the hydraulics, belt pulley, and pto off, and you can have fun in stock classes at 5500 pounds. I won a few stone boat classes with my worn out U. For just a little money, you can put a bigger set of blocks on it, bumping it to 336 to 350 cubes. Good motor. A 6" stroke G crank will bolt in too. That can be 403 to 450 cubes with out stroking or boring way out. Lots of options. Motor parts interchange from the 30's to the 70's without much trouble. Give it a shot Jason. MMs are hard to beat.

U's are good inexpensive pullers. They weigh about 1000 lbs more than a 44 but largely because of the cast wheel centers,(most the 44's I see have pressed wheels) A U can pull 5000 lb class with pressed wheels, no hydraulics or pto. stock U's are 283 cubes but blocks and heads from M-5's G1000's etc will fit. A G or 403 stationary engine crank will drop in and the jurnals can be ground down to take shorter rods. They can be sleaved and stroked to 700+ cubes,(lots of money).
