Saw a late fifties MM 445 Utility posted in the photo ads section. Neat looking old tractor. Did a little research and found it rated as a 42 HP tractor. Can this be right? What would a tractor like this sell for? The picture shows a tractor in pretty good shape with what is reported to be a professional paint job. Any feedback from experienced MM guys would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I have a 1956 MM 445 Universal (row crop) and I believe they are 52 horse not 42. I paid $3,500 for mine about a year ago, but thought I got a good deal. It looked like new when I loaded her up. I'd gues you'd pay a little more for a utility IF it has a 3 point hitch. without the 3 point I'd go lower. Many of the utilities came without 3 points especially ones ordered by highway departments for mowing.

Thanks for the info Ed. It does have the three point and power steering. I found out the guy that has it is asking $4,750. From your explanation this sounds a little steep. Don't know how negotiable he might be though. Again, thanks for the response. J.W.

I have seen them at tractor dealerships where they were asking as much as 5,000. Depending on condition and what you want to use it for, if you can get him to come down some that is not too bad a price to start negotiating from. While I like the taller row crop and the tricycle front, most people want the utility because of the wide front and lower center of gravity. So you'll pay a litle more for a utility.
