I assume you have a Minneapolis crossmotor tractor. They made 17-30, 17-30 Type A, 17-30 Type B, and 27-42. Never heard of an 18-36. Does it have a cast iron serial number plate on the back of the transmission housing? That is where the model & serial No. is cast in the plate. Where does it say Threshermens Special? In the earlier years (before 1921) they built 12-25 and before that the model 15. Also 40-80 and 20-40; replaced in about 1919 by 22-44 and 35-70. 17-30 came in l921; 17-30B in 1925; 27-42 came later. Built into 1930. These years are approximate. The 27-42 was essentially the same as a 17-30 B except for high compression pistons & heads; gas manifold; and increased engine RPM from 825 to 925. Hope this helps. Jim.
