I am considering selling a nice running straight U302 Super. It runs very very well with decent tires on it. It has the heavy standard axle instead of the adjustable tube-type. It also has full hydraulics with three point hitch. Everything works well. I know utility tractors with three-point etc. are quite hot on the market. Deur Implement has some nice examples for $7500 or so with low hours. Can anyone tell me what price I should ask for this machine?

I will sell my 1968 302 super for 4,250. It is a gas narrow front with 2500 act hrs. I am 3rd owner. It has weathered paint but all the major engine and drivetrain parts are good. It is exactly as I bought it, as I didn't care about cosmetic restoration as much as the drag of having to rebuild engines, tranny's etc.

MM junkie If your U302super is that nice its hard to say what it is worth because you can hardly find them in poor condition let alone in excellent shape. I had one 5 years ago with 1300hrs paid $6800. for it used for about 1 year sold for profit an had more than 1 wanting it. The standard front axle is the best for a loader use most people in my area switched fronts back & forth to row crop fronts when not using the loader. The price around $7500.00 is resonable. Good luck Terry Clubb

I went and looked at it today. I don't know the hours, but it runs perfect. The darn wheels are painted red, however I may change it back. Tires are about 50% and similar. The heavy front axle is good. There is caked on dust and grease all over it. It will need a good soaking and washing. I think it has been painted because It didn't say super on the tag, but the engine is yellow. The hood is off, so I didn't look for the super sticker. Sheet metal is nice and good fenders. I am welcoming offers, but I may play with this neat machine for a while. Maybe buy a loader for it. My newest is a Jet Star, so this is a treat. Thanks for your input. This is not an excellent piece, but it is a straight good runner. I am guessing $4500 maybe?

There is a local implement witha reversed 302 forklift. It looks like it came from the factory that way and has a protective roof.

Andy--

Could you drop me an email concerning the whereabouts of the U302 forklift you mentioned? I'd like to know more.

Thanks.

That is interesting. I didn't know U302s came in a forklift configuration. Ya learn somethin new every day. Deur Implement has a Jet Star III like that. It can be seen on their website.

Surely sounds like this Deur Implement is on some kind of good crack. If they get these kinds of prices for these, I have a truck load to sell.....

Before you jump to conclusions Bill you may want to know a little more about these tractors. The one without the loader we are the second owner of. The tractor has under 1,500 hours. These are not hours on a rebuilt engine but the total hours on the tractor from when it was made. The tires are the original with the 45* tread and have about 70% tread and not weather checked. All but the amp gauge are original and the green lights in the gauges work. The metal is excellent and has both the side panels. This was a tractor in our personal collection but needing to downsize some. It was displayed at a couple local shows in the past. The one with the loader on has 1,946 total hours. The motor has been totally overhauled though. One of the family members of the estate said it was on the blower and ran low on oil and damaged the engine. They installed a new crankcase as it is primer painted and completely overhauled it. The tractor runs great and the steering is tight. The torque works great in both tractors. The loader is same as the M-M L800 but painted Oliver green. The loader has no cracks or welds and the pin holes are tight. Both have the 3pt hitch and I would have to check but I think they both have the original top links to. When we sell one the engine oil is changed and the others are checked and changed if needed. We also when ever posible on any make or model try to have a operators manual to give along with it. Some manuals are hard to find. What a item is usually makes a diference in the price. There are a lot that sell for less money and some for more depending what condition and sometimes loaction. A couple years ago my dad was to a sale east of us and they had a U302 in it. The tractor was missing the lower side panels, torched off rear axle shaft, worn tires, NO 3pt hitch. I dont know if the torque worked or not. This tractor brought $2,000. Now how much will you spend to get it fixed up like it should be. We have restored several tractors over the years and you usually find more to fix on one than you first thought. If you have to hire the repair work dont this will also add up. You still get a lot of tractor for the dollar with M-M tractors. A lot of Fords and John Deeres will cost more than a M-M in the same size. In Successful Farming mid March 2002 in the Machinery Pete section he told of a 1972 John Deere 4020 diesel with 566 hours selling on a auction in Nebraska for $29,000.00 And it said that when the buyer was taking it home to Ohio he was stoped and offered more for it. How much would a new JD of the same size and options cost? That may be why he paid so much for it. I doubt if he will have to do much work on it for several years if he does use it. What is suprising is how much people pay for some of the lawn mowers and compact tractors. We had a customer in asking about a Ford 8N because the lawn tractor that he paid over $7,000 for could not do all the work he needed.

Hi there guys. Keep up the good work. When you compare the cost of a new tractor to a "new" old one, there is no contest. I do believe that a U302 well maintained will be around long after any new machine today. I usually buy deals or something with a little fixin involved, but I do not think you are far off on price for the condition of those machines. The utility market sells those like hotcakes. I have seen old Ford 8N sell for $7500 with a simple rebuild and a back blade and disc. Still performing their function as they were over 50 years ago. Simple to repair if the need arises too! I appreciate your info. I may post pictures of this machine and maybe find a loader for it.

Well Deurs is an equipment DEALER, but I have had nothing but the most pleasant experience in dealing with them. They are good old MM boys. I could spend hours at that place. I would suggest anyone needing parts to give them a try. Some tractors may be a little high priced, but there are senimental feelings among Moline people and their tractors. I must admit that myself. Thanks for the input Bill. I wish I had a truckload of UBD specials. There must have been dozens of request for that one.

I paid 3500 for my 2 years ago, but I know the tractor. I wouldn't sell it for that amount.

I could not say for sure on the price, but the standard axle sounds like an uncommon variation in a 302. It sounds like your implement dealer is quite fond of their 302. I suppose a real late diesel with an immaculate restoration may touch the $7,000 range. Perhaps try e-bay and let em fight over it... good luck

Yes they are fond of their U302. One is restored completely, one has a loader and low hours. Beutiful examples. On average, I have seen ones like mine go for $3500 to $4500 depending on condition. A loader on it could boost it right? That is what I've seen, but I wouldn't pay that. I guess I must remember these are still considered useful farm tractors, not antiques. The Ford 8Ns and newer always sell very very high around here. Same for Jet Star IIIs. Horse folks and hobby farmers like them. I may try the auction site for this. The standard axle is unusual. Most standards like that didn't come with a 3 pt hitch either. Thanks for the advice. Anyone else got a good ballpark figure?

Sometimes you have to watch tractors with loaders that are equipped with torque amplifiers. I cannot imagine an attachment that is harder on the T/A than a loader. Yes the loader is an increase in value, but most MM people are supersticious of MM loader tractors that have T/A.

Good point. Didn't think of that. I got a Jet Star II with a loader. What a machine. Keeps going and going and going. We are very careful with the torque amplifier. Many folks run in Low all the time. I hardly ever use it. Just ocationaly when trying to move delicate things with the loader or driving in road gear slowing at an intersection or corner. Love that machine! Thanks for the point. Very helpful.

I would say your estimate on the price is pretty accurate. A collector might consider the standard axle a desirable feature as well. Do you know what year it is? I will send you a picture and price of one that I sold recently and maybe that can help you determine what yours is worth.
