I need some help from you good folks here on the Moline board. This machine has been on our farm longer than I have and I'm almost 60. I am fixin' to move it too a different shed. Yes, it has been shedded all this time. I have two questions. While I have it out and am moving it, I want to belt it up, it has all the belts on it. I only hope they are good enough to run it. I want to oil the belts down while they are running. I think they used to use linseed oil, is that right? Need advice on this. Also, I think grandad bought this machine new, but am not sure. Just one other thing I needed to ask Dad but forgot to. Also, the number on a plate on the front of the machine and just above the front axle says: Made by the Minneapolis Threshing Machine Co. with # 24780 molded into this plate. Can anyone tell me what year this machine was built? Any info at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million in advance. Vern

We have 5 threshers that run and we usually use steam cylinder oil, but I would say linseed oil would work as well. Sometimes automotive supply stores still carry belt dressing either in liquid or spray. Liquid would be better for what you want if you can get it. It used to be sold under the name of Pull More. None of our threshers are Minneapolis. But if it says Minneapolis Threshing Machine Co. it would be before 1929 because that's when it became Minneapolis-Moline. I have never seen a serial number list for any Minneapolis Threshing Machine Co. (before 1929) would love to find a list. Hope this helps. Thanks for your reply. I talked to my cousin about this, his dad and mine both ran this machine and we both sorta thought it was bought in the late twenties.
