Lost my manual. What is the best method to remove the horizontal distributor drive shaft from it's timing gear? Can it be driven out to the rear while on the engine yet or do we need to remove the entire timing case, not just the cover. Have the cover and the pump impeler off. Loosened the set screw and pulled out the front casting with bushing. It moves back & forth a bit but won't budge from the gear. Can we heat it? Also can we get the small gear that drives the distributor off this shaft or do we need a new or good used shaft? Where to locate one? Thanks for any help.

In says in my manual to take out the accessory drive shaft you must remove timing gear case cover loosen allen screw and remove sleeve which contains bushing &oil seal then bump shaft out the rear.It shows a role pin 1/8 by 7/8 in distributor drive gear. There is a plate that the dist. bolts to may have to come off also if it has a vertical dist.May be some help.
