Power steering on the factory set-up will not work. Hydralics on the 3 point work great. What could be the problem?? Could it be low on fluid and where do you check for it?? Also this has two straight levers under the seat, a short one and a little longer one, that move from side to side. What are these for and would they effect the power steering?? What postion should these be set in for normal operation?? One more question the PTO will not shut off, the lever snaps in and out fine and it seems to slow down some, any adjustments on it?? Thanks for the help Larry

I had a 335 for awhile. My pump was weak, but it still ran steering fine. There is a valve and spring in the hydraulic pump that is also for the steering pressure. It is nylon part with a spring. I I got a used one from Everette Bros in Ohio to put in mine. Might check that. I think you better get an operator's manual and maybe an IT manual to help with repairs and adjustments on this tractor. The levers work as they said above. You have to remove the lever cover to see fluid level, it's kinda dumb set-up. Later tele-flos had a pipe and dipstick in it. Get some books, even a parts book will show the parts fellas here are talking about, just don't tell how to repair.

Larry,
The PTO will usually run on the 335 until they are warmed up and connected to something requiring some force to turn it. There is no brake on these early models. If still won't stop when something like a blaer is connected to it then the disks in the PTO clutch are probably warped from someone using it with it improperly adjusted.

The 2 levers under the seat have nothing to do with the power steering. One is for the drop rate of the 3 point, the other is to adjust the cycle rate of the draft control. If they are original, they should say "RATE" & "CYCLE" on them.

As for your steerin not working, if the 3 point raises an implement, it is not too low for the steering to work. The proper level is approx 1" below the top surface of the hole where the plate that has the 2 levers under the seat bolts on with the lift arms down.

If you have no steering assist at all in either direction, it is likely that either the priority valve in the hydraulic pump is stuck, the relief valve in the steering valve is stuck open or the spring broken, or the pin that connects the steering valve to the sector shaft is broken.

John

In addition to the things mentioned by John on the power steering the actuator rod on the control valve could be worn off to where it will not actuate the control valve. This only moves approx. .040 when new I think.
