I am considering buying a super 670 and the only one pictured on this website has a stationary or non adjustable wide front end. I was wondering if all 670 supers had the stationary fornt end.

I drive by a 670 Super with adjustable wide front every morning- I seems to look more appealing as time goes on. I need to stop and talk to that fella. . .

Most all M670's had the adjustible wide front. The fixed tread wide front were on the wheatland models and sometimes used for loader work. When we sold them in the 60's we never had any with the fixed wide front. Everyone got the adjustible wide front and sometimes a narrow front. We have had them in before on wheatland models and on a couple industrial models and on orchard tractors. The wheatland models we have and have had before never had a 3pt hitch. So check if it has the 3pt hitch on it if you need it.

Adjustable is available, in two versions: Standard and Heavy Duty. I have yet to see a 670 with the heavy duty, but the sales literature definitely promotes it.

Glad that you got your hands on one of those baby dolls. I once had a 70 model gasoline burner. However, about a month after I bought it I came across a much nicer condition 69 diesel, so I sold the 70. Kinda regret it, but I have the ability to stumble across more tractors than I really need. Are you familiar with all the tricks in maintaining the closed center hydraulics?? If not, lets get a discussion in progress.

I have two Super 670 LPs and one of them has a problem with low pressure in the hydraulics. I've changed the seat/valve assembly between the two tractors and the problem stays with the valves. Followed the manual for adjustment and it didn't help. I need some help but I don't think mine are closed center but don't know for sure.

The most common distinguishing feature of the MM closed center system is the cast iron levers for operating remote cylinders. The levers stay in the position they are moved to. The pump is supposed to shut off once demand is met. This system was introduced on the 1969 M-670. My diesel is about 18 serial numbers later after the introduction. Maybe we should get a new subject title posted to attract more info from experienced owners and technicians

I dont really plan on useing the hydraulics. It is going to be a pulling tractor. But yes I am familiar with the closed center hydraulics.

LW,
Does your front end have the 8 bolt front hub or the 6 bolt? The standard adj wide front has 6 bolt and the heavy adj wide front on the G1000s have 8 bolt. Just curious if yours had 8 bolt hubs too.

The late M670 Supers (69 and later) seem to have the heavier front ends. Still 6 bolt hubs, but beefier, with a channel welded underneath, and plates at each end of the center pivot. The engineers must have learned by looking at the older ones where the cracks always develpoed, and focused their efforts in those areas.

David,
Thanks for the info. I'll have to look at my 1969 M670 and see if it has a different front end than my 1966 M670. I didn't realize they could be different.

I'm pretty sure you could get a 670super with adjustable wide front. The fixed (Standard) front will probably be the rarer version of the two.
