I have a line on a G707 MM to add to my Cockshutt and Oliver collection but I must confess I am a litle unfamiliar with the MM models. Just what am I going to see when I get to the place where the tractor is sitting. I am assuming it is about a 90HP tractor but know nothing of engine make or such. I have heard that MM, Oliver and Cockshutts were basically the same tractors painted different colors for some models. Can someone give me brief run down on what the G707 model is?

My 2 cents worth, I have a family of MM,s Good tractors as is says on the steering wheel WORLDS FINEST TRACTORS. Tha massey 97 was a mm 705 with massey clothing "tin" Only complaint against the 705-707 long wheel base takes 10 acres to turn around, lay off the brake when turning, took a cog out of bull gear penion. Other wise very good reilable tractor. Some body once told me can't get parts for them, don't need em they don't brake down. My best MM the G1000 vista, I wish it was new again. The worst 1355 with 585 engine problems very costly. much power however lugged down and would pull sucked lotsof fuel though. Join the MM family you will em.

For 12 years a G 707 Diesel was our main source of power. I pulled a 4x16 plow for many acres. It will pull a 13 ft offset 4 inches deep with no problems. As stated by others, do not pull it as hard as you can. The rear end is a little weak. I ran in 3 rd. gear. with the plow and disk.

The GBD, G-VI, and 7XX series, had one thing in common; awesome engine, indadequte finals. Basically, it was the old U transmission and final. DO NOT hook a huge disc behind this critter. Use a smaller disc and enjoy the power reserve. Even though here is a G Grand and Vista already there, I would love to have a 705, 706, 707, or 708 in my barn. With proper care the engines are good "forever". Our G grand was the last new tractor bought on our farm. It was used plenty heavy, and long. However we did take good care of it. After twenty years and around 7500 hours I pulled it down to do an inframe. After checking the main and rod bearings it was put back together and probably will not need to be overhauled in my life. And no, I am not planning on checking out any time soon; too much farming to do, and to many tractor pulls to go to!

The 707 was made only in 1965. It is a 2 wheel
drive and the 708 is the same tractor with 4WD.
It used a 504 MM engine in diesel or LPG. There
were 283 LP and 415 diesels built. It pushed out
101 hp. This tractor had nothing to do with the
Cockshutt or Oliver models as far as I know, nor
was a model sold under the MF brand as had been
done with earlier models, 705 and 706. It has a
5/1 trans. and some options include cab, 3-pt and
air. It weighs 7775.

I have about 100 acres I need to start working up this year and I was hoping to use this G707 if I can wrestle it away at a reasonable price. What do you know about them. It comes with duals. I would need it only for cultivating and discing.
7775 lbs seems light for a 100 hp tractor. Do you think this tractor could handle the chores on fairly hilly land

Seems it would be a good match for your hilly
land with duals. They can really pull and the weight is any easy adjustment with tire fluid
or wheel weights. I not sure it would be too
easy to culivate with as it's big and not that
nimble, but disc work should be great. Big iron
of this type is still pretty cheap to buy as
collectors want units easy to haul and big farm
operations have moved to new tractors with all
the comforts. I should clear up it is 101 PTO hp
and more like 93 drawbar hp since that is your
main use.
