I'VE GOT MY EYE ON A 49 UTC IN FAIR TO NICE SHAPE, FROM WHAT I'VE READ THEY WERE FAIRLY COMMON. WHAT KIND OF PROBLEMS SHOULD I LOOK FOR, HOW HARD ARE THEY TO FIND PARTS FOR, ESITMATE OF WHAT THEY ARE WORTH (NEEDS TIRES).

YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM AND COMMENTS WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

The few UTC's I've seen had all been welded on the front axle at some point.

It would also be good if the drop boxes are in good condition, I'd imagine them and their guts are hard to come by.

Most other components were shared with the other U tractors, so those parts should not be hard to find.

A few years ago somebody said a junk UTC (any condition-all UTC components present) was worth about as much as a good running U. He didn't put a dollar amount on it.
