my father is rebuilding my grand fathers 47 R and is about ready to start putting together again but has realized that he is unsure as to the correct assembly of the clutch. anyone got step by step so he won't have to rely solely on intuition? Also, he has read that the R came with optional live hydralics and is interested in whether or not this is true and if so what is chance of installing on this one. Thanks alot to any and all info on these two subjects.

Steve,
The R model came with "live" hydraulics. This system consisted of a pump mounted to the left side of the engine that was driven by the camshaft. If your 47 R has a square cover on the left crankcase cover this is where the small live hydraulic pump would have mounted. This system used engine oil from the motor instead of a seperate reservoir & hydraulic fluid. It was mainly designed to lift cultivators or a sickle mower. It was not very fast.
