I have a 46 ZTU that I use around the yard and also use for shows and parades. The problem I have is that I have had to replace the bushing in the fan housing every year since I have had it running. I have tried bushings from the dealer and from a local machine shop but they only last about a year. Does anybody have any ideas?
Thanks
Rick

Are you running grease or oil in that fan hub? If you are greasing it, is there a hole in the bushing so the grease actually gets to the shaft?
This usually results in excess grease across the top of the hood, on the water pump and down the inner side of the air cleaner.

If oil, your bearing must be 'sintered'-meaning the metal is porous so the oil will flow through and lube the shaft. I think you should either use motor oil in it. the cavity has to be kept half full.

You might get a machinist to mike the shaft and make you an undersize bushing to match, or to make a new shaft to fit the correct size bushing.
