Howdy Folks! My friend and I pulled this out of some blackberry bushes yesterday at his uncles farm and he being a Deere guy and I being a Case guy are not sure exactly what we have found. Did we waste our time on this one or is it a keeper? My guess is it is a MM 5 Star LP .. late 50s? Any help on this one would be much appreciated by us. We could not stand to let a tractor just sit there and die so we had to rescue it. The serial number on the block is 10900169 and the model number is 283E 4. However on the transmission case the serial number is 11000067 and the model number is 01. Never saw a tractor with two serial and model numbers before. Is this normal on MM? Well .. thanks for any help you all can give and have a great day!

Good luck! I have a GTC that looks about like that. Wish someone would come get it.

Hey Scott be careful what you wish for. I know where you live. LOL I am just now starting work on those 5-stars. But if you want to give it to me I will take it!

My problem is that I have $400 in it and I don't think I'll ever get the time to restore it. Sure would like to hear one of those 340 motors run.

What you have is a 1957 5-star universal. As a matter of fact it is #67 out of 2914 universals. I have three 1958 5-stars. One of each fuel type plus a parts tractor. I also have parts books and operators manuals on them too. So if you would need anything you can email me and I can scan it for you. I don't have much in parts to spare though at this time. But there are several models that will interchange with this tractor. I am getting ready to re-store my lp as a matter of fact today! So if you need anything just drop me a line. I opened the link here.

Well.. we pressure washed it today and it looks a bit more yellow but we are still wondering what to do with it now that we know what it is? What is a dead one worth? Can't bear to part it out... looks kinda neat sitting in my yard right now too.. but the wife is gonna kill me n him as well I reckon!
