Just hauled home a good MM 445 Universel. Wondering if there were factory 3pt conversions? It has what appears to be a home made 3pt. it works, but not the correct distance from pto therefore longer pto shaft is needed. Would like to convert to better system. Tractor is great with new overhaul. Stan

The 445's came with 2 different 3-pt systems. The early units had no levers on top of the cover plate on top of the control section where the control levers are mounted. They also have a mechanical (spring) linkage from the rockshaft to the 3 pt lever to kick it out when clear up. The draft control on these units didn't work very well & a factory update was available for them to convert to the Tele-flo system. Not all units were updated.

The Tele-flo systems have 2 levers on the top of the plate on the top of the control lever section (where you add fluid) & work much better.

As for the PTO, an extension is required to locate the PTO in the correct place. They are available from most any brand dealer or Ag store such as TSC. The cheaper ones don't last as long as the better ones. They wear & get to flopping around.

Thanks John,
Look at the reply I sent to GL Perry. I might add that there are 2 levers coming out of the side of the area under the seat, but no levers on the top. It does the job I bought it for and the home added 3pt works quiet well, except for leaking down (of course no draft control), just wish the factory 3pt system was easily added. Thanks for your info and responce.

MM's of later 50's and on have Tele-flo lifts on them. It is a unit that mounts under seat, has big cylinder facing forward and a stack of valves and contols next to it. Then there are two arms on the sides of case, and the long arms mounted below near the drawbar. It had a draft control unit on back for the third link. The pump for it was just below it, above the pto. Where's yours? You have added on pump to engine? tank? The tank case under seat on MM"s has passageways in gear case to allow fluid to get to pump at back. You must not have Power steering then either? Same pump ran the power steering. As far as I know, no one makes add-on kits like for most other common brands. AND, I'm not sure you would want a tele-flo from 445 as they were troublesome. Later tractors had diff units, with filters and some other parts in diff places on tractor, easier to use. You'll have to check around to the usual MM parts guys to find tele-flos and expect to pay greatly, and still need a total rebuild of the unit to make it right.

G.L.
Thanks for the info. I have added nothing, just got it home jul 3. The pump is where you say. The valve and oil tank is under the seat and it does have power steering, although it works good, it is slow, I'm wondering how to speed it up. What I mean is you can out-turn the hydraulic asset limiting how fast you can spin it. The home built 3pt is operated with one cylinder (totally seperate from tractor)and leaks down fairly rapid.Could be the cylinder or in the control valves. If it is in the control valves, what is the likely fix? There are no arms mounted on the case. There are two sets of hydraulics, one operating the 3pt and two hoses not in use. It does have hydro torq and works great. I'm wondering if the difference in the utility and the universel is the absence of the tel-o-flo on the universel. Thanks again for your help. I live in Oklahoma, raised on the farm, but never was around the MMs.
