I recentley became the owner of a ford 8N and with it came a fornt end loader. Went home last night and found a 3" oval logo that read on top (looked like) "Grerner" and on the bottem what looked like "Minneapolis". My Question is that I need to add hydro oil of fluid. What kind and where is the oil/fluid put in? Please help, thanks

MM used some hydraulic components made by Gresen in Minneapolis on some of the industrial models, (e.g. Big Mo 500). This logo was an oval with a horizontal line through the middle.

As to oil recommendations, the type of hydraulic pump, amount of wear on the pump, and ambient temperature in your area are the important considerations.

A worn gear pump will work better with heavier oil, (e.g. universal hydraulic/transmission oil like IH HYTRAN), but that may be a problem in cold weather. A vane pump seems to work best with type A automatic transmission fluid (now called Dexron III).

It is important to completely drain the system and replace the filter(s), then refill to the proper level with the most appropriate oil.

Good Luck
