Carb adjustment on 670

I have a MM 670 LPG that I have changed the points, wires, plugs, condenser, rotor, and distributer cap. The problem I have is that it still runs rough like it has a miss, but when I pull the choke all the way out it smoothes out and runs smooth. I think the carb or regulator is out of adjustment. If anyone knows which screw to adjust or has any other ideas on why it runs rough, please give me some advice. Thank you.

Andy I am assumeing you still have the ensign system, and you have no vacuum leaks. The load screw comes in from the side of carb, starting screw comes up from bottom, and idle mixture is on regulator. Prelimiary adjustments are close load adjusting screw and open 3-1/4 turns. Close starting screw and open 1-1/2 turns. Close idle mixture screw on regulator and open 1 turn. First to adjust starting circut warm engine. Then pull choke full on, throttle wide open and adjust starting screw for max RPM. Then throttle down, push choke in and adjust idle speed with butterfly adj screw to 600 RPM.
Then adj idle mixture screw on regulater for smooth operation. Now you can adjust big screw for max load. When you are done then go back and check whole procedure again. Make sure carb shaft turns freely, by that I mean with linkage unhooked from governor, carb should fall back to idle by itself. Then with throttle wide open, carb wide open adjust length of rod to just slide into gov hole and carb hole. A half hole preload will make things a little more sensitive.
I hope my rambling helps
Ken

Thanks for the help. I was messing with it this morning and was fiddling with the choke and it was sticking and when I got it a djusted properly the engine runs fine. Thanks for the help I will keep that in mind next time something goes wrong.

My experience with LP is with U & G. Seems you may need a new LP filter. The choke on the U & G richens the mixture so it will start and does not allow it to run above idle. If I set the throttle at half open, and pull the choke, the engine will start right up, but will not run at the set throttle speed until the choke is pushed in. JUST a thought, do you know that you HAVE to start the engine on VAPOR and change to liquid after its warm? Also, have to alow a cooling down period in which you shut the liquid valve and open the vapor valve to get all the liquid out of the system so it can be started on vapor the next time? I hope this helps, John

I have not changed the filter yet, but that might work. Mine will start with the throttle in any position, but the choke has to be pulled. I really think that there is some kind of adjustment I can make on the carb that will help though. I always start on vapor and switch to liquid when it has warmed up and I shut the tractor down by turning the fuel of and letting it run out and then killing the electricity. Thanks for the help.
