I recently bought my second Minnie Mo. My first is a 1966 G 1000 Diesel Rowcrop. This new one is kind of confusing..... . When I first came across it all appearances seemed to say that it is a G 1000 Wheatland with the LPG engine and a factory cab. However upon getting closer to the tractor it became obvious that the tractor was much smaller than my G 1000 diesel. When I examined the serial tag I discovered that the serial tag is for a G 950 from 1970. The engine sn seems to be a G 1000 LPG engine from very, very late in the production life of the G 1000. Could it be that someone ordered a G 1000 Wheatland with an LPG engine from the factory, but perhaps official production of the G 1000 had ended, so they simply took a G 950 rearend and some other parts and put it together with left over G 1000 parts and shipped it out? The factory cab and all other sheetmetal and everything seem to fit together extremely well and it seems like some "Dr. Frankenstein" would probably not have bothered to put together a machine like this in the field. Does anyone out there have any helpful information about the situation? I would definitely like to know how to document this tractor properly. Finally, what would you guys call this tractor????? Serial number tag says I should call it a G 950, but it most closely resembles a G 1000. Me and dad are hauling the tractor home tomorrow so I will try to post a picture for you all to see. Thanks.

I'd bet someone pulled a motor out of a donor G1000 and moved the sheet metal over. Since, MM was still making 1050s, I do not think they would have shipped that configuration out and still be willing to warranty it.

You can send your serial number to the folks at Floyd County Historial Society and they can tell you for certain what motor and options that tractor left with from the factory.

I'll get the engine serial number and give those folks a call sometime. If anyone is interested I've posted a picture of this tractor and the MF 97 on the Tractor Photos section of the page.

Serial number is 43500084 which indicates that it is the next to the last G950 LP built in 1970. I know that only 160 G950 LPG tractors were built from 1969-1971. The tractor was located in Warm Springs, VA and we unloaded it off the rollback yesterday about noon. Was going to take pictures, but can"t find my digital camera anywhere.

Adam,
Post the engine serial # and we can tell you when the engine was made. I agree it's probably a repower job sometime in its life.

I would also like to add that this tractor was parked next to a Massey Ferguson 97 Diesel, also built by Minnie Mo. I ended up buying both of them since both are pretty danged uncommon around these parts.
