Minneapolis-Moline made 25 of these G900 MFWD's all in 1968. The serial number range is 33101165-33101189. So this is a legit tractor. I have the one successive to this one with MFWD on it as well. They are an extremely sought after tractor. I know of only a dozen or less to still exist. As far as the U304, I've seen one other example of those out there as well. I think that was a kit that was available from the factory, but I'm not sure on that one.

I wonder if it is Kin to the U304? Something MM never made.

The G900 FWA was NOT a dealer conversion tractor. As Mike stated, there were 25 of these built, all consecutive serial number of 33101165-33101189. I happen to own 33101167 and it is FWA. I also have a piece of G900 FWA sales lit that I found a few years back, and I sure wouldn't think MM ever made sales lit for an aftermarket kit, would you??

On the U304, I saw this tractor at Lennox this last August, and if it was not a factory tractor, then why did it have a U304 serial number tag on the transmission.????? ????
Answer me that one.....

Because you can have serial # tags reproduced. Not very difficult but makes a heck of a conversation piece.

If MM made 25 consecutivly numberd fwa tractors they would have had there own serial number list and model designation like a G904. The G1000 Vista front wheel assist arent consecutivly serial numbers because it was a Block 99 option when you orderd the tractor. The U302s were a kit from elwood they also had them on Jetstar tractors. I have known several dealers and factory men from that time and they all say no such tractor left MM. Most likely one company orderd 25 tractors and put the fwa on them afterwards that is why they are serial numberd all in a row.

That's interesting that you say the dealers & factory men you know from that time all say no such tractor left MM. At a show a year or so ago an old-timer walked up to my G1000 Vista MFWD and told me about how he worked for MM and he remembered watching one just like it come off the assembly line & then another one came through right behind it.

If it makes you feel any better I have the slip from the MM block man at the time that sold the G900 to the dealer. It was sold brand new and ordered from the FACTORY with MFWD on it. It has the serial number right on the order and delivery ticket. It is the very tractor on e-bay, #1172. This Block man kept VERY good records and sold three of these supposedly made up tractors. All three serial numbers fall in the range. This was NOT a dealer conversion! I have also owned a few Vista MFWD's that were nearly successive in serial numbers, each of them was only one number apart. They all came from different parts of the country so I doubt that they all came from the same dealer.

I'd be careful making blanket statements like this. We have one of the last G1000 wheatlands, and when we need parts sometimes we find that what we really need is 900, 1050, 1350, or other parts, because G1000 parts don't fit. They slapped whatever parts would fit together towards the end of the MM line, though I'm sure you'd never get "factory men" to admit that.

If MM never made G900 FWA tractors, why did they publish a MM Parts manual supplement for them and why is there G900 literature on file at the Minnesota Historical Society? Also if MM never built Jet Stars and U302's with Front wheel assist what happened to the rest of the 175 Transfer cases that Elwood built for MM tractors. I realize that Less than 50 were put on M504's. But the Owner of Elwood is an aquaintance of mine and he swears he shipped 175 cases to them. I believe MM installed many of them on U302's, Jet stars, M602's Big Mo's and a few others. Yes, some were dealer installed, but I believe some were installed at Hopkins.

Not to change the subject but does anyone know how many 1000 vista FWD were made or wheatlands too? We seldom see any.
