I finally looked up the numbers in my book. The G-VI with the basic 420+ cubic inch engine put out 78 pto hp with a basic weight over 8000 lb. We used a 1960 model G-VI in the late 1960's. A previous owner had done some sort of a power upgrade to the engine that supposedly raised it to 90-100 hp. There was an extra hunk of cast iron between the block and the head, so I assume the engine had been "stroked" with a factory kit. I wouldn't pay much more than salvage value for a tractor like this that is split apart.

G-IV had a 425 ci 6 cylinder. This tractor didn't amount to much 'til somebody comes along and makes a 504 ci engine out of it. If you have been following along you would know that the 6 cylinder G's had a poorer performance on a Nebraska test than the 4's. This is primarily because of the 403's 6" stroke. Depending of the amount of money you want to spend and the looseness of the rules in your area is where the success of your venture pivots. The 800 ci well motor will bolt in the G-VI. This would be an expensive, easily assembled, successful puller. Stripped down the G-VI should get near 5500#. 6000 for sure. I'd look in Western, Ks. Should be bunches of them there. Could have Meade cabs. Don't count on having A/C, Ha, Ha.

this would be the first m-m that I would be buying, and this is the first time i have looked at any disscussion board. I want to that you for your information. What do you think a tractor would be worth that is split in half for a new clutch, it has not been ran in 10 years. thank you mike o.
