We have a Stanley muffler on our 1950 ZAU. It does not muffle anything. It is terrible. I have another Stanley muffler on a 1952 ZAU we bought in 1986, very good muffler. I think with progress things get worse for product, but their profit is better.

I bought one this summer at a swap meet, and is a stanley MM-1 . Not sure if this is stil available new, but it looks like my old one, complete with upturned pipe, cut off at angle where it goes out the hood! Try TSC, they handle Stanley's and have a catalog.

I saw today at fleet farm that Stanley muffler makes a muffler for a R, but it does not lok like the one in my RTU parts book, wil this muffler work. The demensions seem right, but it does not have the goose neck.

Ben, Stanly does (or did) produce the correct muffler for an RTU with the short exhaust pipe on it that comes out the side of the hood. The TSC (Tractor Supply) stores in my area carried them until the sold their initial stock: and did not restock. I'm guessing they can re-order.

Check e-bay. There is some useful and hard to find stuff listed sometimes. Bidding process is easy and you can set your own price for the most part. Semp Fi.
