The energy cell or Lanova system was an atempt to make diesel work. The fuel and air are supposed to mix in the energy cell and make the fuel-air mixture burn more completely. I say this was an atempt because before Detroit was using direct injection and since direct injection is state of the art. The Lanova is just an answer to a trivia question. How does it work?: The injection fires its meter fuel into the energy cell it swirls around in the cell with the air and explodes out toward the chamber and drives the piston down. If possible I would leave the energy cells in the cylinder heads to clean them. The plug on the opposite side of the head as the injector has to be removed. The shows you a cap. It should come out next. Then you should see the interior of the energy cell. If you can't clean them adequately a tool will have to be constructed at the Machine shop that will screw into the interior of the energy cell to "Pull" them from the head. Later
