I recently bought a MM model 1200 (pto driven) corn sheller at an auction. It is in great shape! As an Oliver collector who also appreciates MM equipment, I am not familiar with these shellers. I was wanting to know what years these shellers were made, the shelling capacity (bu/hr), the minimum (if any) tractor horsepower and RPM's to run the sheller. I would also like any other helpful hints on operating this sheller. Thanks for your help!

Hi, I have an "E" sheller, your 1200 is a "improved" version of it. era? maybe late 1950's- 1960's, I am not even sure when my "E" was built. Capacity-I think they sold them as 1000-1200 bushels per hour. At that capacity every thing would have to work perfect, take it from me, it doesn"t happen. You got to stop the machine to change grain trucks, put chains back on, unplug the cob stacker, you get the picture. If we could do 500 we are doing real good! A "U" tractor would handle it with no problem. We use the IH 1066, because the PTO is easy to handle. You need a crew of many, 4 minimum I think. You know, the weak mind, strong back type. Make sure the dust blows away from you.

I also have an E. Brian, you forgot to throw in the ear protection. These things will deafen you. They will also bury themselves in cobs, husk and chaff.

Curt, I quess we never worried about hearing protection, I am usually at the end of the drag on the operating end of a scoop shovel, so there is not much noise there. I usually wear a dust mask. I'm afraid the corn sheller has gone the same way as the threshing machine. A memory to some and an unknown to others.
