My manuals are back ordered and I would like to get the valve lash gap for the exhaust and intake. Thanx a bunch.. One of the valves has about an 1/8 of an inch gap. This is an intake valve. I"m guessing something is stuck in the opening, the valve is free, but stops short. I"ll see if I can see it thru the plug hole. There is no compression on this cylinder. Any ideas what could cause this? Maybe the tractor sat in this position for many years, and the top of the stem corroded so the valve won"t close all the way...???

Cold - .014" exhaust and .012" intake is what my book says.

Thanks... it looks like the valve I mentions, the tapped arm must be bent. It now runs on 4 cylinders, when I started it ran on two cylinders, it sounded like a JD... I couldn't believe it still ran.

I believe it.

Six weeks ago my R was only running on two cylinders. The motor came out of a donor ZA. The ignition timing was off 180° and the tappet adjusting screws on the 2 and 3 hole were so tight that the valves wouldn't close.

It still sounded better than a john deere...
