It might be better to get another fan shaft-but here's what I learned: I'm guessing you have the fan off. you should see the end of the shaft and the back side of a taper bearing cup, and the smaller end of a taper bearing cone. Loosen the setscrew in the big hex part and the shaft should be able to be pressed through the housing, taking the fan side cup out with it. You may have to take a split puller and get the big hex off first (Or heat it if you have a torch.) There is also a chance that you could break the housing, but I doubt it. The cone from the rear bearing should come out with the shaft. This is as far as I got with the one I took apart, because that's when I realized that the cup for the rear bearing is pressed into a blind hole about 4" deep. With the tools I had, the only idea seemed to be get an end mill and drill 2 holes 180 degrees apart down to the edge of the cup and try to drive it out with a punch. The problem with this is how do you keep oil in it after you put those holes in it? If you have a steady hand, you might could weld a bead around the bearing surface of that cup and shrink it enough it will fall out. But you'd be working pretty much blind, because that hole is so deep. You might also take a torch and heat that cone hot enough it will loose its temper and then cut it out on a lathe. Or if you have a die grinder you can probably cut through the race with a carbide cutter 2 places about 180 degrees apart. If you can get it apart without ruining the hex, the shaft or the housing, the bearings are standard parts (I remember checking their numbers,I just don't remember what those numbers were.)
