Hey MM buddies out there!

I am changing a 12v positive ground 206h engine to 12v neg. ground and using an altinator. The wires were pretty much destroyed and I need to know how to place the wires on the coil. It has a + and a -. where does the ignition wire go? Thanks for the help.

I don't do much with the MMs but its the same for all so. The + goes to the switch and the - goes to the disturbutor. Hope this helps.

I agree with Old. The polarity marked on the coil is intended for neg. ground systems. If I am not mistaken, when the polarity is switched it introduces an additional resistance to the secondary circuit and this causes misfiring problems-especially if the coil is marginal to begin with.

I've messed with some old cars and tractors, if the system is + ground, the + terminal goes to the distributor, if the system is - ground, the - terminal goes to the distributor, makes no difference whether a 12v or 6v system or coil as long as the voltage of the coil matches the voltage of the system. I'm old enough that I can remember when the new fangled alternators scared the local mechanics when I worked at NAPA, coils are a piece of cake.
