It will be 12 vdc negative ground now. The old 6 vdc system was positive ground. I"d go with the generator rebuild. I couldn"t get the GM alternator to look right on the tractor. The alternator interferes with the air cleaner cup. There are some foreign alternators that are smaller, but I didn"t try any of those so I don"t know.

1. have your generator rebuilt to charge 12v. or instally an alternator. (Installing a Delco alternator usually requires some modification.)

2. Either change your light bulbs to 12v, or install a resistor so the 6v bulbs will work.

3. If you have the original cutout on your ZTU generator and the original ignition switch, [it should be a push-pull switch] you will have to rewire for either the 12v generator or the 12v alternator. If you go the 12v generator route, you will need 1 more wire going to the generator. 12v generators use a regulator instead of a cutout.

4. You may not be able to use your original ignition switch, I don't know for sure.
