My great uncle was a MM dealer in Haubstadt IN many years ago. I have been lucky enough to find two pieces from there and was wondering if anyone knew of any more out there. the newer items will have Schmits Farm Equipment, Haubstadt IN on them, the older will say Schmits and Pettijean. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance Kent Schmits

Hi,

While I do not personally know of any of these items right off hand, I am interested in your search--and particularly in the fact that your great uncle had an MM dealer. I just recently had a book published pertaining to tractor dealerships past and present, and I in the process (as a separate project--also in addition to my registry of tractors, which primarily consists of MMs at this point) got started in compiling a tractor and implement dealership registry. I'm trying to record the history of as many dealers of all brands of tractors from any year--outlining where they were, who operated them, pictures of them, and anything else relating to them, all in an effort to preserve this history.

If you would like to contribute to this, that would be AWESOME! Also, if you haven't done so yet, you might get an account with eBay and set up a permanent search(es) for terms that are unique to your great uncles dealership. If any of those items pop up on eBay, you should get an e-mail alerting you to them.

I hope this helps, and good luck in your search!

Respectfully,

Brian Rukes

Brian:

If you are interested in compiling a Dealer registry of all brands, you might be interested in the recent discussion on the Oliver Board. Here is the link.

As far as I know no pictures exist but the building is still being used, a heating and air place I believe. E-mail me if you would like, I will be happy to share with you what I know. Thanks Kent
