I posted the problem, only one answer, directly to my e-mail address. Trial and error fixed the solution.

I couldn't get one of the two external hydraulic circuits to work, the bucket would begin to move then stop. The suggestions from local mechanics and the one reply correctly pointed me to the fact that somethins was blocking the return of fluid in that circuit. I switched the external hosed & the couplers in various combinations and thought I had isolated the problen the control detent valves. So I ordered kits and rebuilt them. I found two bad poppetts and one broken poppett return spring. When I put it back together, I still had the same problem. I tried switching individual components from the hose connection at the detent control valve to the actuating cylinder. I isolated one quick disconnect coupler (with a shutoff valve) that wasn't working. I disassembled it as far as Icould and cleaned it. On the bench it worked ok (after cleaning some awful crud and sediment form inside). I reinstalled it and still had the same problem. A whole lot less hair but the same problem. Then for some reason I looked at the rubber sleve on the handle of the coupling shutoff valve and noticed that on the bad one the arrows and words "on" and "off" were on the opposite side of the one that worked ok. I turned the rubber sleve around and now turned the handle in the opposite direction that I had since this problem began, and everything works great! Whew! A lot of work and frustration, a freshly rebuilt external hydraulic control system, but it works and I'm a happy camper. Thanks to those that helped.
