I have removed the following. Head, exhaust manifold, intake manifold, water inlet, rocker arms, 3 nuts on right side of front block, 2 nuts on the left side that held the rocker arms. Can I take just the front block off? Am I forgetting something? She doesn't want to budge. The front block is cracked letting antifreeze in cylinder #2. Any tricks on removing a stubborn block? Thanks in advance.

Curt

Kelvin,

Is the oil tube the tube going in the front left lower side of the front block? I did remove it. I didn"t remove the end caps. The engine isn"t stuck. Should I remove the end caps on #1 and #2? Do you have any other thoughts or ideas?

Curt

Did you remove the oil tube from that block to the front of the crankcase? If so,
I'm pretty sure its just stuck on those studs.

Another thought: Did you remove the caps from #1 and #2 rods? I'm wondering if the rings are binding in the cylinder or stuck. Perhaps crank it over and see if the pistons will push it off the studs.

I recall something unusual about those jugs like a couple of bolts that hold it to the crankcase from the underside. Seems that they are on the cam side and go up to the jug from underneath. Give it a look before the prying begins.

Curt, you are correct on the bolts! There are three under there per block.

I've never seen bolts on the under side of an R or Z block, unless they did on the late ones. To my knowledge, the only engines with the bolts undeneath on the camshaft side were the overhead valve 165's and 206's as used in 335, 445, 4 Star, etc.

Heath, You are right! I looked at my junk R and then at my Big Mo 400 miltary 206/220 and they are on the 206 and not on the R. Too many torn down that I got them crossed. MY BAD!
