Curt,
I'd be looking for another cylinder block. I've never seen one crack there. Usually where the cylinder meets the top, right at the edge but not right at the top in the middle. I would think it would be very difficult to repair.

I think it froze in northern Minnesota @ about 50 below. I'm looking for a donor block.

I usually see the outsides of the blocks bust before the top of the combustion chamber. You'd think the casting would be quite thick in that area.

I think its junk. But-If you want to try to have it fixed, get in touch with George Miller (georgemillermachine.com) I think. He's in Maryland. He can do a lot with cast iron. It might crack again when it gets hot. The risk is yours.
