I am almost finished restoring a 1953 ZB moline and I was wondering if anyone has pictures of how the hydraulic cylinder hooks up to the rear axle housing area. When I got the tractor there was a bunch of cobbled up welding that attached the cylinder to the rear axle housing but there is no way to tell how the original hooked up. Thanks for any help.

I have 2 54 ZBs, but no digital camera.

I'm guessing you are hooking the other end of the cylinder to the rock shaft that raises the cultivators?

The 'fixed' end of the cylinder goes to an 'L' shaped bracket that extends under the right hand axle housing. That 'L' bracket has bars that extend upward front and rear of the axle to the cultivator mount lugs. There is a pair of lugs on the front and rear of each axle. If I recall correctly, the mounting bolts for that 'L-piece' only go through the inner lug next to the axle.

Since you say its been welded on, I'm wondering if one or both of those lugs have been broken off the axle.

Don Rice was parting a ZB a year ago. If you need some parts he might be able to help. 585-243-2617.
