Hello,I am restoring a MM 2 bottom plow ,which was bought new with a 1952 MM model "Z" I have already redone the tractor BUT I have been told that on the plow,on the back of the moldboards there is a blue color?!?!What shade of blue?? and is that the only place the blue is located?!?! I know of the prarie gold and the red, but where does one find out about the blue?? Whade shade is this?? I have contacted a couple of dealers and they have no info!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks very much!!! :-)

Seems like the general concensus is for all red mouldboards. We've got a 4x16 MM plow and it too is red with yellow lettering.

I agree with Matt. I have a couple of MM plows that both have the backs of the moldboards painted red. I also have some NOS moldboards I bought on an auction of a retired MM dealer a few years ago that are painted red with yellow lettering on the back. I have not seen ANY MM plows with the blue that you describe.

Thanks for all of the help in this!! I am for sure going with the all red for right now... However, as I have been getting the plow redone and ready for paint I can make out a blue color on the back as The original owner desribed?!?!This is for sure a MM plow as all of the original decals & stamping marks are still intact.. so I am going to chalk it up to the "who knows" category!!! LOL Again thanks for everyones help in this and If anyone has any different info, please let me know! If I find anything out I will certainly let everyone know also! Thanks again!

I never herd of this blue color on a Moline plow before.I have restored a 2 bottom moline plow and the backs of the moldboards where painted red before i restored it. also have a 3 bottom moline plow that the paint is in good condition and the moldboards were painted red. It could be possible that they were thinking of IH plows since they had blue bottoms.

Well I do not think that IH is the plow the orig.owner is thinking of.He says he remembers that when the plow was new ,the rear section was a shade of blue,His son has also said he remembers this AND that he has seen plows at a couple of shows that were also painted this way! BUT he isnt able to describe this color well enough to make it possible to match... I myself have not heard of blue on these plows and was going to go ahead and go with red if I couldnt find the blue color, but of course I want to be as original as possible!! Any others have any ideas before I go ahead with red?! :) Thanks very much!! :-)

I recently talked to a friend who is also a collector. He had in his collection a 3 bottom plow that he had bought from the dealership recently i.e. last 10 years. This plow had been ordered buy the dealer, but was never sold. It was sold to the collector on the condition that it never be put in the ground. The backs of the moldboards are red. I have a 2 bottom that is a 3 owner plow. The originalm owner used it on an 80 acre farm. It was always shedded. The second owner was a ringman for an auctioneer. He bought it at the old mans estate sale. I bought it from him. The backs are red. I agree with the other fellows. They should be red with yellow lettered decals or painted lettering.
