I am restoring a 1957 5 Star and I'm looking for aluminum pistons. I have heard that Welters has aluminum pistons but they are .185 over bore. Does anyone know if there is another supplier that can get standard bore or .030 over? Thanks

A.J., assuming you're working on a gas, you're in a tough spot. I too had this challenge with my UB Special LP. The pistons I removed were .125 over aluminum (I still have them if anyone is interested). The pistons were usable but tough. The cylinders were wore beyond acceptable. I had to decide weather to wait a long time and pay a fortune for those .185's OR, sleeve the cylinders back to standard and put a good used set of standard pistons back in it. I chose the latter and I am pleased with the result

AJ,
You failed to mention if it was gas or diesel. Gas were 283ci like a U. Diesel were 336 like M5, M670, etc and used the same size pistons and blocks as the 504 diesels in G705/G1000 etc. Piston kits for the later 336 4 cyl are available. I can get a price for you if interested but I bet the MM parts guys can hook you up just the same.

I would still check with Welters 417-498-6496. They fix regular tractors in addition to selling parts for pullers. Wendell Everett 740-922-3335 is also another good source.
I would think they were available through an AGCO dealer too.

you may have to settle for .040 over, as that was MMs usual practice-.020 over, .040 over, .060 over.
