Anyone know why so few wheatland and row crop G1000 propane and gas tractors built in 1968? Info I have shows only one gas and one propane wheatland built that year, is this correct? Anything special about them in that year? I've noticed some G1000s are all yellow and some also have the dark gold color on the engine and chassis, is this dependent on the year?
Thanks for any info.

7810,
The G1000 Row Crop was made from 1965 to 1967 in gas, LP and diesel. The last 25 G1000 row crops made were all built as Vista models as a pilot run. Some serial # references call these 1968 models but I believe that is incorrect. The G1000 Vista replaced the G1000 row crop in 1967. The G1000 Wheatland model was produced from 1966 to 1969. There were only 2 G1000 LP Wheatlands produced in 1968. I suspect this was due to a drop in demand or Moline's focus on Vista production that year instead. Wheatland diesel production did not see the same drop in production numbers. Note that all G1000 production of gasoline (very few made) and LP shared the same serial #'s. It is generally accepted that only the G1000 rowcrop was available in gasoline from the factory. The Wheatland and Vista were not available with gasoline. This is based on data from the MM parts books. The 1965 and 1966 production of G1000 were painted brown and yellow. Castings were brown and sheet metal was yellow. It's not know for certain when Moline switched to all yellow on the G1000 but it's generally accepted that this occured with the start of the 1967 production run. All G1000 Vistas were painted all yellow. The uncertainty comes with the 1967 row crop production as I've never seen an all yellow G1000 row crop. They may exist but the majority of all row crop production were two tone brown and yellow.

I hope you find this info helpful.

Brian

In 1968 the G1000 tractors were all changed to Vistas,Gas and Lp totaled 10 and Diesls totaled 15. These became the pilot vistas. As for the wheatland units production may have run over into 68.

I'm only familiar with the rowcrops. In 68 the Vista had replaced the regular row crop 1000 but they kept building the wheatland 1000. I think all regular row crop 1000's were two toned. Beginning with the Vista on they were solid yellow. This was probably the time they went to yellow only on the wheatland 1000. I've never seen a gasoline 1000. There may have been a few built. Some others may know more about how many gas 1000's were made. I don't think it was many. The best serial number info is on this site but it has some errors in it.
