Can any one tell me what year the grille was changed from the red mesh to the horizontal bars. Were all models changed in the same year? I grew up with the Red mesh grille and was away from MM before I saw the bar grille. In looking at the photo galleries, there seems to be some
confusion as to the correct year. Thanks.

Re: MM Red Grille in reply to Whiskers, 11-29-1999 07:25:33
Greetings,
I will appreciate any help and/or corrections to this post in answer to "Whiskers" question about the red mesh grill on MM tractors.

First there were different years for the red mesh grills for the "R" "Z" and "U".
"R" red mesh grill (1939-1950?...)
"Z" red mesh grill (1937-1948)
"U" red mesh grill (1938-only year???) The "G" never had a mesh grill although the "GT" (1938-1941)had a red bar grill. I believe I have read that the "GTA" (1942-1947) had a yellow bar grill with a single verticle red stripe down the front center.
Check out the paint scheme and correct decals and placements for the MM "R" and "Z" on this web page address:

Also check out the same for the "U" and "G" at this web page address:

Both pages are compliments of Green's M-M pulling Pages. Thanks for any responses and Season's Greetings to all. Hope this helps.

I believe the U had a red mesh grill through 1941
