I was in Montana this summer visiting my brother and we were driving around looking for treasures when we found two MM Bale-O-Matics sitting in a fence row. One was pto and the other looked like it had a Wisconsin V4 engine. One of them, I don't remember which, had a massive flywheel on it. Must have been close to 4 foot in diameter. Looked like it had fold away handles built into it like some of the old hit and miss engines did. Were many of these made and did they work well? Tell me any thing you can. I have never heard of these before. Thanks

I have one with the V-4. I do run the engine every year, been wanting to restore it, haven't gotten the chance. I would probably part with it. NW Lower Michigan area. Is there any interest?

Oh I forgot to mention, I also bought a orignal owners manual from another source for the same baler.

I just bought one a couple of weeks ago. It is all complete, has been stored inside for the last 30 years. It hasn't ran since then and has a 4 cylinder engine on it. I am confident that I can get it running and using it in parades next summer. It also has the dual wheels on it.

I recently bought one for $35.00 from an old man. It is the only one in this area (SEWY) that I know of. 1206SWMO would they sell that baler cheap. I may be interested in the duals on it.

The owner talked like he would take scrap price for the MM baler and MH combine but that would be $50-60 per ton not cut up.It will take a chain saw to get them out of there.

I may talk to him early next year when the weather gets nicer.

I don't think I've seen one before with a spoked flywheel. The ones I've seen all had a solid flywheel. Had a friend who said he had to drop out of college when his dad bought one. Mike

The Bale-O-Matic came out in the 1940's. Was one of the first automatic wire tie balers made. It came PTO or engine driven. Engine driven had V-4 Wisconsin air cooled engine. I was MM dealer at the time and ran some of them in our own alfalfa as well as custom work. There is a collector in this area has a restored one.

Heres a MM Bale-O-Matic sitting about 25 miles from me.Its sat there for 40 years or more and is pretty far gone. The picture makes it look better than it is.

Less than 100 ft from it sits a 1940's model 21-A MH combine that was used very little but is all rusted out too.I remember looking at a 15-30 McCormick tractor on this farm in 1976 and the baler and combine were in decent shape back then.
