I have a MM G1000 Diesel that ran great until late summer. It starts and idles fine, but when you open the throttle the engine revs up for a few seconds and returns to an idle. Even with the throttle pulled wide open it will set and idle. We have cleaned the fuel lines put in new filters and drained the fuel tank. Someone suggested that it may be the govenor and it is idling back the fuel pump. I understand govenors on gas tractors, but havent dealt with them on diesels before. Any help would be apprieciated. I need to get it going before summer, we use it on the blower for filling silos.

the govenor on a diesel is internal in the pump it's self. not being familiar with the pump brand that is on the moline deisels cann't diagnose that will tell a problem that caused that response on another brand one time. return line from the pump was plugged and built pressure that shut the govoner back once the pressure got high enough that was on a roosamaster pump other wise you will probably have to have the pump gone through.

I had a Roostamaster pump do this before. And I agree to look at the return line comming out of the pump, pull the fitting out right at the pump sometimes they have a check valve there and thy clog. But on the down side the blockage is most likely comming from the seals in the injection pump comming apart. I suggest you have the pump rebuilt. Its going bad any way.
