A neighbor friend of mine has finally found a tractor that he needs help identifying. He says it is a M-M B1 G and it's serial # is 57900735. The closest I can come to matching that is the 1953 made series that runs from 57900001 – 57900600. He says that under the B1 there is printed "row" if that helps any. Any help with this neat old tractor would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Your neighbor has a 1954 BG 1 Row. This is a variant of the model BF. The BG was built from 1953 until 1955. The exact number is not know, but most experts agree that it is around 1200 total. The BF/BG were derived from the Avery model R. MM was already building their own R, so when the BF Avery Co. was acquired the Avery R was renamed the BF. In an effort to compete with the offset design of the small Farmall's such as the B MM modified the BF into the BG. They created an offset design by shortening the length of the axles on the left hand side of the tractor while keeping the operator centered between the wheels giving the farm a good view forward and down where he would be cultivating his vegetable crop.

I hope that gives you a little insight into what your neighbor owns.

Joe
