I need to know what model impco or century regulator/vaporizer would replace ensign model R. I would also like to know about how much it would cost. I am working on a 1961 M5. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for all the replies, it is fun to work on and run these old LP's. They might mot be as convenient as the diesel's but no as expensive to work on either. Anyway thanks again! Jeff

Glen, I'm glad you replied, up here in my area, talking to the LP supplier is about the same as talking to the local NAPA dealer, they sell parts and can order them, but know nothing about our problem of trying to keep these 40+ year old tractors running. I even have a local supplier who had a M670/LP that they used around the plant but when the "old" guy who worked on it retired, there went the tech help. Thanks, John

John, It's getting that way here too and like that on our older equipment and LP stuff is even worse unless it's a new forklift. Here now the LPG equipment suppliers can't sell to you direct anymore unless you have a state LPG license and all that so have to go thru local dealer you buy LP fuel from. Many of them don't know how to service the stuff or what to recommend so I usually still end up calling the supplier and then have fuel dealer get it lol. More stupid regulations because someone wasn't safe around LP fuel and messes it up for everyone else or makes others scared of a clean safe fuel. The other site I posted before has some really good info if you take time to read it about how LPG works and how to work with it safely. Any local LP dealer should also be able to instruct you on how to be safe with your LP fuel tractor and how to properly refuel it and supply you with what is needed. You can call these guys at R&W for some expert advice but they can't sell equipment or parts direct to you.

Your local LP dealer should be able to recommend or sell you which ever brand they push, sell or keep parts for would be best. As far as size you can go with one larger but can't go smaller on rating for engine cubic inches. You are only going to pull what it needs or uses and same low pressure it's just some regulators are made to put out larger volume if needed for more cubic inches like on a oil field, stationary industrial engine or generator engine and some of those will still work on a smaller engine but just cost more. I would go with Impco just because always had good luck with their LP or natural gas carbs and regulator/vaporizers with parts being easier to get here local. If in a colder climate you may want a regulator that has push button or electric solenoid operated primer made on it as a primer is actually your choke.

Impco, http://www.impco.ws/

Another that also sells Century products....

My M670 has an Impco regulator model J JB400317, carb CA100M-3 serial 400813. Seems that a model E and model L will work on there. Go on Ebay and look at Impco and look at propane. Some of the sellers on there know more about these products.
