Just saw an ad for "older tractor with loader". When I called i was told it is a Minneapolis-Moline model C50, 1954. The price seems good but I know nothing about these machines. I'm a refugee from the Ford board. How big a machine is this? Does it have a 3 point hitch? I talked to the wife on the phone and she didn't have any answers. Thanks in advance. Jim

If you call back, ask for a serial number. This
number plate is located on the right hand side
of transmission. If the plate is missing look
for an engine serial number. Depending on which
model of tractor, the engine number could be on
the right or left side of the block.
The engine number will have the bore and stroke
stamped on it as well.
Sometimes the chassis number is missing, but you
can tell quite a bit by the engine number.
I wonder if the C50 is a model number for the
loader itself?

I wanted to ask her for a sn but I could tell I had tapped her well of knowledge and patience dry. I called back today and it had been sold. One of those deals where you gotta be there when it's available. Unfortunately I wasn't going to be able to do anything about seeing the machine until Saturday. Oh well. Thanks for trying.

A c50 doesn't sound like a model of moline. The 54 models were I believe R's ZB's UB's GB's... And very few of them had a 3-point. In fact, I'd say a 3-point is very rare on one.

I was afraid of that. The tractor is 300 miles away and I was talking to the wife on the phone. She thought C50 was the model number she saw on the tag. Might be worth a trip to look at. They only want $1,000 for it with a front loader and it all works (they say) but has virtually no paint left on it. Thanks for the response, maybe I'll call back when hubby is home and get more info.

A C50 is the model of the loader. The C50 was
a Reese loader that was mounted on RTI's.
