I have a 1946 MM UTS (with single block) that was stuck on 1 & 4. After pressing the pistons out, I discovered a 6" vertical crack up the cylinder wall of #1, evidently from freezing. Does anyone know of a fix for this, or does anyone make a sleeve that can be put into this cast bore? Anyone got an extra block for standard pistons. Thanks for any help!

Cylinders in this condition have been bored out and a sleeve welded in place. The new cylinder is then bored to STD. bore. A reputable machine shop should be able to preform this service for you and provide the sleeve. The supply of single block U block is probably limited by now. If you are restoring the tractor welding in the new sleeve is the best economic move.
If you are not restoring the tractor you might check into the two block engine as a replacement since parts are more readily available.
