I have a RTU, 1946 model, with a front lift for cultivator. I need to know how rare this might be. It's operated off the left side of the engine and appears to operate on engine oil? Has a single one way ram on right side and is operated by a set of small levers just below and to the left of the steering wheel. I do not have the cultivators but the lift and the mounts are all there. Before I paint this tractor It needs to come off or I need to find a set of front cultivators for it. Does anybody have cultivators in any condition for thei tractor? Any info or help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

The hydraulic lift for the Model R that you have (which does, indeed, operate off of engine oil) is not rare. How common is hard to say, but it is not rare. The single control units are probably more common than the dual control units. You might be interested to know that this live hydraulic system that we are talking about makes the R series as a whole fairly unique: the R M-M was the first production tractor available with live hydraulics, and they were optional from the beginning of production in the 1939 model year.

Cultivators for these tractors are fairly hard to find, but they are not necessarily "rare" (but may be considered borderline rare). I wish you the best in finding a complete set, and good luck with your restoration.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. I hope this helps. Take care, and have a good one!

Respectfully,
