Bought some R's this summer, one running. Should it be postive ground? I have it neg now, but see the coil has the Plus wire going to the dizzy. SO, seems that would mean pos ground. It is orig 6-volt. Will running with neg ground harm the generator? or any other part. The amp gauge is broken so doesn't indicate charge now. Will I have to polarize the gen if I switch?
Other tractor is RTI, any difference for that model?

Guys, thanks for answering, not much response to my questions on MM site anymore. I did change the posts and old broken glass, bent needle AMP gauge began to show positive charge. It didn't seem to move to neg when first got it. I had to bend needle some to clear face, kinda funny! I'll check with meter to see if charging later. That old R is running nicer than ever after fixing that gas leak, not in oil now, new oil change and filter. Oil pressure is higher now, and smokes much less. Clutch area is all oily, and it is grabby, but less now that I'm running it some. I'm gonna try to spray engine cleaners thru the side holes, and rinse out. I scooped a handful of grease that was in a pile under throw0out bearing today, what a mess. Probly have to split it next summer, put in a clutch disc. Once oil is in them, never do work the same.

GL, all those old Rs were 6v positive ground. RTI is the same.

G.L. You will have to polarize the generator. I don't remember which posts to connect. You will have to ask.
