Ad in local paper: Minneapolis-Moline model Z with 3 point hitch, $1750. Can anyone help me out? I know nothing about MM. When I go look at this critter, where should I look for the s/n? What years were the model Z made? What's a good web site for info on this machine? Thanks.

Jim, The sn. is located on the right side of the tractor on the transmission housing, kind of below the hand clutch, (if it is a hand clutch job). There is a tag on the engine, I think on the right side that says sn. but that will NOT give you the year of the tractor or the model. This is strictly the eng. info.

Best of luck

Roger

A Z with a 3 point? I would like to see that done. It seems pretty improbable. The Z is a good tractor, I have 2 of them. Made from 1937 to 1956, I think.

I agree with half. The Z is a good tractor. As are all Minnies in my opinion, however some ZB's were equipped with 3pt. I have seen many ZA's with homemade 3pt. Some of which looked good some looked cobbled. I haven't seeen a Ztu with 3pt yet, but I'm sure it could be done with a little engineering.

For more info try Tony Turner' page @ >Link

Where is the tractor located?

I need to find parts for a 1953 Minneapolis-Moline
Z with Hercules Engine Motor Model # 206B-4. This is a 206 cu. in. engine. I am wanting to overhaul existing block. I will need oversize rings, rod bearings and other parts to overhaul the motor. Any help in locating these parts would be appreciated. I'm new to the net world. Sincerely, Jim

First things first. It is NOT a Hercules engine. MM used only their own engine designs. Parts are easily available at any good engine shop. Tkae the pistons and blocks and let them measure them and order the parts you need. If the valves need replaced I suggest using small block Chevy valves. They are a great affordable replacemant. If there is anything else you need call Welter's in MO. I believe there is a listing for them on Tony Turner's page under the parts link @ www.minneapolis-moline.com If not e-mail me and I will gladly send you more info.

P.S. Rick my head is still ringing from the last go-round with the frying pan. You don't know anyone looking for a UTS lp do you?
