I have a parts catalogue for the CU, HU series powerunits #R-831C. Something you'd like copied or specific info?

Hi John, I'm trying to find out what year this power unit is I bought. The tag on the engine is missing, but there is a tag on the frame rail with model HUA & a serial # of the unit. I'm at work right now & can't remember the exact # but its 5 digits that begins with a 6. The heads are GE30A with a big HC cast between the sparkplug holes on each head. I've been looking for serial # info for these old units & haven't found any yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Just get what numbers you can on the unit number and send me an e-mail, I have over 30 of these units from 1939-1947. Will probably have the info you are looking for. Been there before.

From memory, it should be an 1946-1947 model, I am on the road tonite and will check my notes tommorrow nite when I get home. Also, check the brass tag on the carb., it will have year and month, if it is a m/s.

It's got a Zenith carb on it & appears to have had the manifolds changed. It has the LP style manifolds on it now.

Your engine is a 1947 model. But you will not believe what I found out when I finally got home! When I checked my references and even my engines, it became known that I have an powerunit engine which serial reads---HUA 69688 with engine HEB 163610 B. That's the closest serial numbers that I have been able to refer to each other in all my years. Hope this helps---- Harland

Thats really cool Harland! Where are you located? You said you had over 30 of these early engines, would you be interested in selling any parts? I'm missing one side panel & there are some broken connector links & springs in the clutch. I'm in Pennsylvania.

Sure, I figure that I may have more than you can ever need. I am located down here in NC, 1 hour north of Charlotte. Would you be interested in just parts or whole units? What else do you need? Not to many fellows look for the older units, just part them out.

I'll keep that in mind, I want to get this engine running over winter, it is stuck right now but should be able to get it up & running. I'd like to mount it on a trailer & take it to some shows. It does have a flat belt pulley on it so it could be belted up to things. I'll give you a yell on here after we get things going. Thanks.
