I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. My M5 starts and sounds great, but when it gets good and warm it cuts out.It always starts right back up,but,it won"t stay running. It started this summer when i found the gas had gone bad.I cleaned it all out then took the carburetor off and cleaned it out too. Haven"t had much chance to mess with it since then. But went out yesterday and it"s still doing it.Does anyone think it could be the governor? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, sounds like it could be a fuel problem but one other thing you should check is the coil. I have a JD 60 that had the coil go bad on it and it drove me crazy trying to figure it out. It would start and run fine for a few minutes and then cut out. I put on a new coil and it has run perfectly since.

Had a ZB that was doing that. Trash in the tank was plugging the outlet. When the engine stopped the suction quit, the trash floated away and could start and run for another few minutes. It drove us nuts until we figured out the problem.

We could actually see the trash in the tank when we looked with a light.

Doesnt sound like anything with the governor. Do you have to choke it when you restart it? Do you have a hose or tubing for a fuel line?

Alan, yes i have to pull the choke to start it and then immediately push it in.The fuel line is tubing and i checked it when i had the gas issue. Thanks,Bret

I agree it sounds like a gas issue. I would check the flow of fuel from the tank to the carb, if you havent done that allready. There may be a speck of dirt or water in the carb also. You can try turning out the needle vave on the carb several turns either with it running or not and back again to where it was. Generally 2 turns out is a ball park figure. You may end up taking the carb apart and clean it out just to make sure its clean.
