Getting ready to paint my 60 GVI and the question is about the red stripe on the sides of the hood. Is this color cherry red, and will that match the decals ok.
I haven't ordered the decals yet and need to know what the difference is betwix vinyl and mylar besides price, which do you prefer.

I asked this question in the paint section also but thought I would add it here in case some don't see it there.

Any input is greatly appreciated,

NOHOG

Thanks for the info, that really helps clear things up. Looks like I'll be using the vinyl cut decals,

Thanks again, NOHOG

NOHOG- I BELIEVE YOU ARE CORRECT ON THE COLOR OF THE RED. MY 1961 GVI HAS BEEN RESTORED WITH THAT COLOR , PAINTED ON ,NOT A DECAL. I DONT THINK ANY OF THE HOOD STRIPES WERE EVER REFLECTIVE . MYLAR DECALS ARE THE KIND THAT HAVE THE LETTERS OR NUMBERS ON A CLEAR FILM . A LOT OF THE MYLAR DECALS HAVE FINGER PRINTS ON THE STICKY SIDE BECAUSE THE PERSON DOING THE INSTALLING GOT HIS FINGERS IN THE WAY !!!!! !!! MYLAR DECALS ARE THE OLDER TYPE AND ARE NOT AS GOOD LOOKING IF YOU ARE DOING A SUPER SUPER RESTORATION. THE VYNAL DECALS ARE THE TYPE THAT ARE COMPUTER CUT, YOU USE WINDOW CLEANER TO WET THE PAINTED SURFACE, POSITION THE DECAL IN THE PROPER SPOT AND THEN USE A SQUEGEE TO REMOVE THE WINDOW CLEANER FROM BEHIND THE DECAL. THEN AFTER YOU HAVE THE DECAL FIRMLY ATTACHRD, YOU PEEL OFF THE MASKING PAPER ON THE OUT SIDE OF THE DECAL. THE VYNAL TYPE ARE WHAT I PREFER 100 PERCENT. THEY ARE EASIER TO INSTALL AND FINISH OFF YOUR RESTORATION NICER. MY VYNAL DECALS WERE PURCHASED FROM MAPLE HUNTER AND I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE DECALS AND HOW THEY MATCH THE RED STRIPE ON THE HOOD. HOPE THIS HELPS! GOOD LUCK ON THE GVI DEAN

Don't know for sure, but someone on here will, I think the stripes are reflective. I had a M5 with black decals, the stripe was reflective. I don't know where to get the stripes.
