Hello all. My experience thus far, AND DO YOU HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE - please share your thoughts

I am trying to "tune up" the 64' Moline M602 Diesel, in runs well now, but I thought I would make sure I am getting the most out of it.

HAS ANYBODY SEEN DIFFERENCES IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR MOLINE DIESEL FROM CLEANING CELLS, AND REBUILDING THE INJECTORS?

I just had the machine shop locally cut me a Energy Cell Puller tool - They charged pretty well and cut a piece of hardened steel. It has the 15/16-20 threads and is 6" long. I works very well.

PROBLEM: I cannot get the outside cap off of one, and the inside cap off another. I was able to pull 2, and have cleaned 2 of the cells up (there was substantial carbon buildup). Has anyone had trouble pulling these caps off? Should I run her to Hot first? (runs well enough). Will a large impact break the outside cap free? or break the casting? I am dousing with PB BLASTER right now.

SECOND: Has anybody seen a difference in performance from rebuilding injectors. I have a local shop lined up to rebuild the Injectors, and I have spoke with RIVER DALE and may use them. I am not sure where to get the parts to reinstall the injectors once done (IE: seals, and/or gaskets). I don't want to pull the injectors and not be able to reinstall them.

THIRD: There is no reason I can't install a straight pipe (Chrome Exhaust stack) on this moline diesel is there?. I don't want to burn it down.

FINALLY: I really enjoy this moline, and it runs rather well. I have had issues with junk in the fuel tank (clogged output from the tank, I took air and blew back the gunk) and will have to pull it and clean it out. I want make it nice, and it works for a living. I made 1000 squares last summer, and it also spun a New Holland 851 Round Baler, but didn't seem to have enough power to finish full size bales, I think it was the fuel flow.

IF ANYBODY HAS ANY TIPS ON THE ENERGY CELLS (AND THEIR REMOVAL), PARTS LOCATION-seems to be an issue, AND THIS TRACTOR OVER ALL - I WILL LISTEN TO ANY AND ALL COMMENTS.

I do have some experience with Molines. I am currently working on a G706 Moline diesel that is pretty much the same set up with the heads.
I have also rebuilt my 65 M670 just last year. I had problems with the energy cells on getting caps out.

On both of those tractors I had to use a 1-3/8 socket on an inch drive, with a ratchet of 3 feet long to get the outside cap off. (Used that because I had access to one). About 10 cells I have done so far, 2 of them had the next cap stuck. A little bit of heat and a few taps of a brass punch was able to break them loose. Around 7 of the third piece in were stuck but not bad enough but was able to get those out by using a pair of pliers. To get the cells out, I used a slide hammer with a home made puller to remove cells. 8 of them came out easy, 2 had to be removed by the machine shop with a punch damaging the cell. (Least I had spare ones).

With the injectors, I had put all new nozzles on mine since when I tested them, the spray pattern was not smooth and they had dripped. I have not tested a Moline yet with the difference of power between poor injectors and rebuilt ones, but a different tractor in school had rebuilt ones installed and it got back most of its lost horsepower. (It doesn’t mean it will work all the time.)

Personally with the chrome pipes, I don't use them. Yes they look nice but in my opinion a working Moline is loud enough with a muffler. Also I don't need to wake up half the country when I work at night.

AGCO place should be able to get the parts. I don't remember what prices are. I got my parts from: Les Wenzel

I think a diesel shop should also be able to help. It gets high in price with diesel parts that is why I am going to school. With the 706 I had saved $600 on fuel system by going through the pump, injectors and cells.

I don't know much about the New Hollend round balers, but it sounds like a bigger tractor would help if you have one.
