The hydraulic pump on my 1355 is getting hot but the priority valve seems cool. Everything seems to be working fine. Any ideas why this pump would be running so hot or is this the tractor's nature?

the main relief valve spring could be getting weak or the shim may be hammered out of it. It should be set at about 2500psi. the compensator should shut the pump down at 2250psi if the two pressures are equaled out the system will get hot quick

Thanks for your input. I think the cooler pump is working because, there is warm oil at the cooler. I put a gauge in one of the remotes it has 2000psi. Also the remote hoses are cool. any other easy suggestions. thanks

Make sure the Star gear that pumps the oil to the oil cooler on the front of the tractor is not broken. It is on the Left side and easy to fix.

Just in general, getting hot like that on a hydraulic oil item indicates an internal oil leak...

Does it still have good pressure?
